Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman tells ESPN he intends to enter the Transfer Portal when it opens on December 9, per Pete Thamel.
Weigman, a former five-star in the Class of 2022 from Cypress Bridgeland, won the starting quarterback job for Mike Elko's inaugural season after showing flashes of brilliance in limited action in his first two seasons on campus. He threw for a combined 16 touchdowns to just two interceptions in nine games.
But Weigman had a rough debut to his redshirt sophomore campaign when he completed just 12-of-30 passes for 100 yards and two interceptions in a 23-13 loss to Notre Dame, then missed nearly a month of the season with an AC joint injury while Texas A&M went 3–0 in the span, prompting questions on if backup Marcel Reed would assume the job full-time.
Weigman returned for the Missouri game and completed over 80 percent of his passes for 276 yards, but was pulled in the second half of the LSU game after completing 33 percent of his passes for just 64 yards. Reed led a comeback victory and never surrendered the job.
Weigman will have two years of eligbility remaining.
