When Jordan Neal arrived at McMurry after the 2018 season, he inherited a program without a winning record since 2011. After struggling during Neal’s first four seasons, the War Hawks excelled in 2023. With a move to the SCAC this season, they suddenly expect to earn a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2011.

“We’ve had a good offseason, and our guys believe we have a chance to win every game on our schedule this year,” Neal said. “We don’t talk about a specific number of wins we want every year now. Instead, our guys aim to make the playoffs either as a conference champion or an at-large bid.”

Neal believes the key for McMurry in 2024 is for coaches to keep things simple and allow playmakers on offense and defense to play confidently.
