Alamo Heights standout and the state's No. 1 athlete, Michael Terry III (6'3, 210), has committed to Texas over Nebraska and Oregon.

The four-star prospect's decision comes after a hotly-contested recruiting battle, with Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian playing a pivotal role.

“The environment is great,” Terry said of his decision. “Coach Sark is doing a lot of great stuff there. Everybody wants to win, but when you have the attitude to win, that is something I want to be surrounded by.”

Terry’s versatility is one of the key attributes that made him a highly coveted recruit, and he could thrive at WR, RB, LB or S in college.

“I am trying to master multiple positions so I can be great at multiple things,” Terry said, underscoring his commitment to being versatile at the next level.

Alamo Heights head coach Ron Rittiman has been impressed not only with Terry’s athleticism but also with his character.

“Michael Terry is one of the most gifted athletes I have ever been around, and he has never once come in and said, 'When can I get the ball?' It is never ‘I,’ it is always ‘we.’ He wants the team to be successful, he wants to win a bunch of games, and go win a championship. He is about the team,” Rittiman praised.

Terry's decision to commit to Texas strengthens the Longhorns' already impressive recruiting class that currently checks in at No. 4 nationally per 247Sports.
