Sam Houston safety Caleb Weaver to enter Transfer Portal

Sam Houston redshirt junior nickelback Caleb Weaver announced on X his intention to enter the Transfer Portal with one year of eligibility remaining.

Weaver, a former walk-on who's a nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy, was the lynchpin of a Sam Houston secondary that led Conference USA is scoring and passing defense. He leads the conference with 62 solo tackles and four interceptions.

Weaver's depature isn't shocking after head coach KC Keeler left for the Temple job and defensive coordinator Skyler Cassity took the same position at North Texas
