The 2024 Texas high school football season won't start for another 10 days, but for one team, the season won't start at all.

Darrouzett will not field a football team in 2024, Dave Campbell's Texas Football has confirmed. The news comes as the Longhorns struggled with numbers within the program, and the result is understandable: Darrouzett, Texas — located in Lipscomb County up at the very northern part of the Panhandle — has a population of about 300 people and Darrouzett High School turned in an enrollment of 25 — tied for the second-smallest football school in the UIL.

Darrouzett's departure leaves District 1-1A Division II with just four teams — Follett, Miami, Groom and Lefors.

Darrouzett went 1-9 in 2023.
